What Goes Where?
With the introduction of the Green Bins program to the City's Waste Management Services, there are now more options than ever for residents to adopt more climate-friendly waste management strategies in our City.
Whether you’re trying to figure out what goes in the green bin, where to take old paint, or when your next collection day is, the What Goes Where feature puts that information at your fingertips. This tool from Recycle Coach can be accessed through our website or a downloadable app for your smartphone or tablet.
As part of the City's 2023 Waste Management Strategy, both the Green Bin program and the launch of the Recycle Coach tool align with the strategy's recommendations.
Recycle Coach is the name of the software company the City has partnered with, and can be used for questions about all forms of household waste.
With the ‘What Goes Where’ feature, residents can:

Type in the name of a material and get a list of possible matches and how to properly dispose of each item.

Take a photo of an item using the app’s image recognition tool, perfect for things you’re not sure how to describe.

Get disposal instructions for materials that don’t belong in the green bin, recycling, or garbage—including hazardous waste options, Goods Exchange Day ideas, and more.

Locate drop-off locations for specific types of waste.

Check your garbage and recycling schedules by clicking on the link provided in the app, which directs you to the City’s GIS for waste collection information.
