In Sentimental Value, Joachim Trier returns with a poignant, darkly comic portrait of fractured family ties and artistic ambition. A fading film director (Stellan Skarsgård) disrupts the lives of his estranged daughters when he returns to their childhood home with plans to shoot a deeply personal biopic. As old wounds resurface, Nora (Renate Reinsve), a celebrated actress battling anxiety, and Agnes, a steady but scarred mother, must confront the legacy of abandonment, art, and emotional manipulation.
