An annual four-day event happening this year from Friday, June 28 to Canada Day, July 1.

This is a huge celebration taking place along the waterfront in beautiful Owen Sound, at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park and harbourfront area.

The current event schedule (subject to change) is:

• Friday, June 28 ~ 6 – 11 p.m. at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park:
  Canadiana Music Concert – a tribute to Canadian Music – Canada’s Rock of Fame.  Canada’s Rock of Fame will feature the songs of some of Canada’s greatest musicians, utilizing Owen Sound and area’s most talented musicians. This will be an evening show held at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park.
• Saturday, June 29 ~ 12 noon - 10 p.m. at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park:
  Starting at noon the bandshell and park at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park will feature youth; Arts and Crafts for kids, Story time with the Library, Youth Entrepreneur businesses, Open Mic on the Stage, Youth Discoveries Performers, Story time with Cassie from the Library, Roxy Theatre Youth Team plus roaming jugglers and circus performers and will feature a fun GLOW night party to conclude the day.  Artisans, vendors, and food booths will be on-site all day. The Gichi-Name Wiikwedong Reconciliation Garden will host tours, ceremonies and activities and offer a place to pause, reflect and remember.
• Sunday, June 30 ~ 12 noon-10 p.m. at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park:
  The day will include water activities: kayaking, canoeing, demonstrations, a boat parade, Dragon Boat brigade, The Big Canoe tours, food, breweries, wineries, and craft vendors and musicians.
• Monday, July 1 ~ 12 noon-10 p.m. at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park:
  Canada Day Celebrations will be held at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park, entertainment food and craft vendors, cultural celebrations and organizations, EMS touch a truck, pony rides, dog show and activities for kids with fireworks to end the day.

• In-Kind donations are different than donations. It is a product or service in lieu of cash and, in most cases, a much needed and appreciated form of donation. As with any event, businesses wish to donate something that is needed for the event, such as fencing, media, printing, portable washrooms, light towers, food & beverages for entertainers and volunteers, portable washrooms, children’s entertainment items and activities, tents, etc. Please let us know how you can help!

Doors Open Owen Sound is happening Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in multiple locations around the City, which will be announced soon.

Doors Open Ontario is a province-wide heritage tourism program that gives the public free access to explore fascinating heritage properties across Ontario. It showcases 10-12 buildings, natural spaces, infrastructure, and cultural landscapes that shape and define our communities.

In 2024, the province-wide theme will be adaptive reuse, showcasing heritage sites that have been repurposed to best serve their communities, while retaining their heritage attributes. Through the continued use and reuse of our historical structures, we realize their contribution to the sustainability and the economic and cultural energy of our urban and rural communities.

Doors Open Ontario began in 2002 as a means of connecting people to place by facilitating public access to compelling built and natural heritage sites that normally restrict regular access to the public, and to ensure that Ontario’s diverse heritage would be free to access by individuals and families of all socioeconomic backgrounds without barrier of cost.

The City has participated for several years in Doors Open Ontario and are planning to re-join this celebration of community heritage again in 2024.
