Traffic Data Recorders

The City of Owen Sound routinely installs temporary Traffic counters at various locations across the city. These devices are used solely to collect traffic data, such as vehicle volume, speed, and classification. The counters will remain in place for a short period and will be removed once data collection is complete. The period of time will depend on the metrics being collected.

The information gathered helps the City plan roadway improvements, manage traffic flow, and enhance safety for all road users.

Please note that these units do not contain cameras or any surveillance equipment and do not record personal or identifying information. They are standard traffic engineering tools used by municipalities across Ontario and Canada.
