Precautionary Boil Water Advisory LIFTED

In consultation with Grey Bruce Public Health, the City of Owen Sound’s precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted, effective immediately (Monday, March 16 at 5:30 p.m.)

The precautionary boil water advisory for the City of Owen Sound has been lifted based on an engineering assessment, conducted by Public Health Ontario and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), confirming adequate disinfection of the water. This confirms the water is safe to drink.

A precautionary boil water advisory, like the one issued in Owen Sound, is issued when there’s no confirmed contamination, but one or more of the water-testing parameters indicate there could be a risk to public health (in this case, the turbidity or cloudiness of the water).  A standard boil water advisory is issued when the presence of harmful pathogens has been confirmed in the drinking water supply.

Arts & Culture Nominations Close This Friday, March 27

The City of Owen Sound is reminding residents that nominations for the 2026 Arts and Culture Awards are still open, with the deadline fast approaching. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations recognizing the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations within the local arts and culture sector at OwenSound.ca/Awards.

The nominations will close on Friday, March 27 at 4:30 p.m. The Owen Sound Arts and Culture Awards celebrate excellence across the greater Owen Sound area, highlighting the vital role that arts, culture, and heritage play in strengthening the community. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Emerging Artist, Cultural Impact, Artistic Excellence, Outstanding Event, Cultural Changemaker, Cultural Legacy, Shared Voices, and The Frontier Award.

This year’s awards will be presented alongside the annual Jan Chamberlain Volunteer of the Year Awards.

Award recipients will be honoured at a public reception on Thursday, April 16 at 6 p.m. at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. The event will feature light refreshments, entertainment, and a cash bar.

Nominations can be submitted online at OwenSound.ca/Awards, where additional information is available, including award criteria, past recipients, and program details. Winners are selected by a jury composed of past nominees and award recipients.
