The City of Owen Sound is seeking experienced and qualified applicants for the role of Engineering Technician/Technologist: Traffic and Capital Construction. This position is responsible for the performance of traffic controls including monitoring and maintaining the City’s traffic signal system and equipment through a contract service provider. Duties also include system design, installation projects and troubleshooting. Other duties include traffic signage compliance. This position supports the City’s capital and construction program by planning, managing and overseeing the design and construction of primarily traffic-related infrastructure (streetlights and traffic signal systems), and may support other capital projects related to roads and sidewalks, water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater collection and drainage systems.

The City of Owen Sound is seeking applicants for the role of Water Distribution Summer Student. This position is responsible to conduct the City’s annual water main flushing program. The student will work independently with a City vehicle to flush the water mains via the City’s hydrant system.  The Summer Student position reports to the Water Distribution Superintendent.

Students will assist with operations and maintenance of the Parks and Open Space Division including but not limited to campground registration booth, campground maintenance, lawn and garden care, painting, cleaning, special events support and customer service duties. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring all areas including our facilities, equipment, and apparatus within the Parks & Open Spaces Division are clean and safe to use, free of litter and debris. The City will facilitate a co-op opportunity for students in a related field of study.

The City of Owen Sound is seeking applicants for the role of Seasonal Parks & Open Space Attendants. Under the guidance of the Parks and Cemetery Supervisor, the Seasonal Parks and Open Space Attendant – Maintenance positions are responsible to perform duties related to the maintenance of all parks trails, Cemetery, downtown core, ball diamonds and other maintained open space throughout the City. Typical assignments include: cleaning washrooms and buildings, campground maintenance, providing customer service, turf maintenance, ball diamond preparation and grooming, horticulture support and other general maintenance duties as assigned. This position may work independently and as a team, so a strong work ethic and drive to complete tasks is an asset.
