*Each player receives a ticket to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Women’s Hockey matchup featuring the University of Waterloo Warriors and Laurier Golden Hawks. Get ready for fast-paced, high-level hockey as some of the province’s top female players take to the ice, showcasing explosive skating, crisp passing, powerful shots, quick transitions and smart, physical play. This is hockey at another level—and a great opportunity for young players to see firsthand what’s possible when talent, hard work and dedication come together.
Activities are planned for groups between on and off-ice times in the banquet halls of the Bayshore Community Centre. Additional tickets can be purchased at the Attack Box Office.
All players must bring:
- Lunch, snacks and refillable water bottle. (nut aware facility)
- Running shoes, athletic wear for off-ice
- Sweater or jacket
No parents will be allowed in the changerooms. Adult volunteers will be in the dressing rooms to assist players.

Hockey Fest welcomes Canadian Olympic silver medalist and mental health advocate Elizabeth Manley as a featured keynote speaker. A two-time Olympian, three-time Canadian national champion, and member of the Order of Canada, Elizabeth brings a powerful personal story of athletic achievement, resilience and mental health. Drawing on her experiences as an elite athlete and her own journey with anxiety and depression, Elizabeth speaks openly about the importance of mental well-being, seeking support and building resilience. Her message of hope and perseverance will inspire athletes, coaches, parents and the broader community to recognize that mental health is an important part of success both on and off the ice. Elizabeth’s keynote and involvement in Hockey Fest is supported by the Mathew Eckert Charitable Gift Fund, whose mission is to support youth through mental wellness, sport and education and to carry forward Mat’s legacy of helping others.

Mathew Eckert was truly one of a kind. His mission in life was to bring light into the lives of others—whether it was through his singing and dancing, his terrible (but always funny) jokes, his thoughtful check-ins, a helping hand, a listening ear without judgment, or simply by standing steadfastly in someone’s corner. Mat lived with purpose, committed to creating opportunities and mentoring those around him.

6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - "SICK SHOT" Organized Ball Hockey Games in memory of Josh Olynyk.
Josh was a former Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group player and passed away from cancer in 2009.
The name of the tournament; Sick Shot, came from Josh's last words before he died. His father, Craig, has also had that phrase tattooed onto one of his arms in honour of his son. "He repeated it three times very specifically and we didn't know what it meant", said Lucia. "All we can figure is that he was thinking about hockey. And you know how kids say sick instead of sweet (or good). Josh, as a little kid anyway, had a reputation of having a sick shot."

Games will occur in the Owen Sound River District after the parade during "HOLIDAY MAGIC." Teams of 4 (1 goalie, 3 players) can sign up. Each player must sign up individually, but please include your team name on the form so we can properly assign you to play together.
U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12 recreational games. Parent volunteers are needed to help referee games.
All players MUST wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet and bring proper footwear, gloves, and clothing to play. Each game will run 15-20 minutes in length.
