 2021 Event Information

Location: Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre 

Admission is free but donations are accepted.

We do ask that everyone attending wear a mask unless indicated, we would like to continue to offer events such as this in the future! Let's all do our part.

Please see "VACCINATION POLICY BELOW" as part of your planning when attending this event.

The City of Owen Sound annual New Year's Eve Family Celebration is the best way for families with children 12 and under to celebrate the New Year.  See schedule below for more details:

As we all navigate through Covid-19 we do ask for your patience and understanding. 


Please remember the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre is a Nut-Aware Facility.
Please avoid bringing nuts or nut products into the building. 


The YMCA will be closed for New Years Eve. 


Ice Skating

4:00 - 7:00 PM - Ice Skating (both ice pads will be open and monitored). Masks are not required on the ice surface but are required in the hallways and dressing rooms. 


Goodie bags will be given to the first 300 children under the age of 12.


COVID-19 Recreation Facility Conditions of Use Sport and Recreation COVID-19 Conditions of Use

Access is not permitted to anyone presenting the following symptoms:

- Fever (feeling hot to touch, a temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius or higher)

- Chills - Cough or barking cough (croup)

- Shortness of breath

- Decrease or loss of taste or smell

- Fatigue, lethargy, malaise and/or myalgias (For adults > 18 years or older)

- Nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea (For children < 18 years)

 Each person entering the facility must

  1. Complete the COVID screening form via QR code or paper copy. This would be provided to Public Health for contact tracing if necessary.
  2. Face coverings are mandatory for all people entering the facility per Provincial order, however face coverings are not required to be worn on the ice.
  3. All patrons must follow physical distancing guidelines and traffic flow signage while in the facility.
  4. Washrooms within dressing rooms are available for use. Physical distancing in dressing rooms is required and face coverings must be worn.
  5. All persons over the age of 18 entering the facility must provide proof of double vaccination and photo ID.
  6. As of December 20, 2021 all persons over the age of 12 entering the facility must provide proof of double vaccination and photo ID. 
  7. Absolutely no sharing of food or drinks – each person is required to have individual water bottles properly labelled. These bottles must be spaced 2 meters apart and be properly sanitized after each practice.
  8. Spitting and blowing the nose without a tissue is prohibited.
  9. No loitering, all users of the facility must follow the traffic control floor plan.
  10. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Use an alcohol-based sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  11. All equipment/training aids brought onto the ice must be cleaned/disinfected after each use.

Please remember the Julie McArthur Regional Rec Centre and YMCA Owen Sound is a Nut-Aware Facility.  Please avoid bringing nuts or nut products into the building.
