Filming or Shooting Video in Owen Sound

Owen Sound is a film-friendly community, supporting productions while ensuring compliance with municipal regulations and minimizing disruptions.

• Please submit your Request to Film through the Special Event Booking Request Form.  Please complete at least 10 business days prior to filming on municipal property.  
• This form serves as a notification of filming activities and ensures proper coordination with city services.

Following form submission, staff will contact you to determine next steps.  These could include, but are not limited to:

• • Public Notice: Notify affected residents, businesses, and emergency services 5 business days prior to filming.
  • Safety Plan: Required for any road, sidewalk, or laneway closures, including off-duty officer requirements.
  • Insurance: $5M General Liability & $2M Drone Insurance (if applicable), naming the City of Owen Sound as additional insured.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all municipal by-laws (e.g., noise restrictions, parking, lighting, and special effects regulations).
  • Facility Rentals: City-owned locations must be booked through the Facilities Booking Coordinator.  See more information about City rentals here.
