Construction work includes:
- Disrupting vehicular or pedestrian traffic within the roadway, boulevard or sidewalk
- Working or placing construction vehicles or material within the roadway, boulevard or sidewalk
How to apply
Permits can be submitted in one of the following ways:
- In person at City Hall 808 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound
- Mail to 808 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound, ON N4K 2H4
- Email to engineering@owensound.ca
**Please note, applications must be received for review 10 business days prior to the anticipated work date.**
Application Requirements
- Complete and submit an application, available by emailing engineering@owensound.ca or in person at City Hall
- A Certificate of Insurance (COI) with Commercial General Liability with limits not less than $5,000,000 and The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound listed as additionally insured
- Sketch plan of proposed work
- Traffic protection plan in accordance with Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 Temporary Conditions April 2022 Edition
- Minimum 1.5 metres (5 feet) clearance must be maintained on exterior paths of travel such as sidewalks to allow for accessible pedestrian travel
- Walk-through scaffolding must be set up in accordance with O. Reg. 213/91. Section 64(1) Public Way Protection
- Work must be done in accordance with the most current COVID-19 guidelines found here.
Costs
- $70.00 application fee payable in cash or cheque (for permits up to 3 months)
- $35.00 application extension fee payable in cash or cheque (for up to 3 additional months)

$15.00/day or $50.00/week occupation of parking space
Fees are payable in person by cash or cheque at City Hall, or by cheque mailed to 808 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound, ON N4K 2H4.
