The City of Owen Sound is developing its first External Communications Strategy — and we want your input! The City of Owen Sound is excited to announce that public skating is back for the 2025-2026 season, including the much-loved Free Sunday Family Skates at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre. The first skate of the season took place on Sunday, September 21, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday Family Skating is a tradition that brings families, friends, and neighbours together, making winter fun, active, and affordable for everyone. Skating runs weekly until March 29, 2026 (excluding October 26, November 16, and December 14, 2025, as well as February 15 and March 22, 2026). Other skating opportunities are available each week in Owen Sound, and season memberships can be purchased online at OwenSound.ca/Skating.
The seventh of eight Household Hazardous Waste Day events of 2025 is this Saturday, October 4! The event will be held at the Owen Sound Public Works Facility (1900 20th Street East) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The remaining Household Hazardous Waste event this calendar year is Saturday, October 25. The schedule for 2026 will be released in the coming months.
The City of Owen Sound is pleased to share that Phase 1 of its city-wide water meter replacement project is nearly complete. Installations are expected to wrap up by the end of October 2025.
This initiative has replaced aging water meters in residential properties with new, advanced models. Most of the previous meters had reached the end of their lifespan, and the upgrade ensures continued reliability and improved accuracy in water usage readings.
