The City of Owen Sound thanks residents for their cooperation and commitment to water conservation over the past week and a half. As part of the precautionary boil water advisory issued on March 14, Owen Sound water users were asked to reduce non-essential water use to assist the Water Treatment Plant’s remedial efforts. These efforts supported the rapid recovery of the municipal reservoir and helped ensure a stable and reliable water supply for the community.

The City of Owen Sound is reminding residents that nominations for the 2026 Arts and Culture Awards are still open, with the deadline fast approaching. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations recognizing the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations within the local arts and culture sector at OwenSound.ca/Awards. The nominations will close on Friday, March 27 at 4:30 p.m.

Last weekend, our community experienced a precautionary boil water advisory, an event that understandably caused disruption and concern for citizens and businesses across Owen Sound.
Residents can rest assured that accredited labs confirmed water sample results on Wednesday, and that there was no confirmed microbiological contamination.
At times of challenge, the people of Grey and Bruce have always come together to support each other! Now that the advisory has been lifted, I want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone in our great community.

In consultation with Grey Bruce Public Health, the City of Owen Sound’s precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted, effective immediately.
The precautionary boil water advisory for the City of Owen Sound has been lifted based on an engineering assessment, conducted by Public Health Ontario and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), confirming adequate disinfection of the water. This confirms the water is safe to drink.
The City of Owen Sound water system users remain under a precautionary boil water advisory. A dedicated page on the City’s website at OwenSound.ca/BoilWaterAdvisory has been created and will continue to be updated regularly.
Thank you to residents and water users for continuing to be diligent and patient in their efforts to practise safe water consumption, water conservation, and sharing updates with neighbours.
