What’s Open & Closed in Owen Sound on Canada Day
With Canada Day celebrations just around the corner, the City of Owen Sound is sharing important information about facility closures, adjusted hours, and special programming to help residents and visitors plan ahead.
City Hall:
Closed Tuesday, July 1. Regular hours of operation resume at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2.
Public Works:
Closed Tuesday, July 1. Regular hours of operation resume at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2.
Transit:
Owen Sound Transit (OST) and Mobility Transit will not be running on Tuesday, July 1.
Guelph Owen Sound Transit (GOST) will remain operating its regular schedule every day.
The Transit Terminal will be open 7 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday to allow for access to washrooms and GOST.
Waste Management:
The Transfer Station is closed on July 1, 2025.
There is no waste collection on Tuesday, July 1, as scheduled in the 2025 Waste Calendar. Collection will instead be on Monday, June 30.
Compost Site:
The Leaf & Yard Waste Compost Site will be open regular hours, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library:
The library is closed on Tuesday, July 1. It is open regular hours as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2.
Tom Thomson Art Gallery and Owen Sound Tourism Services:
The Tom Thomson Art Gallery and Owen Sound Tourism Services will be closed on Tuesday, July 1. Regular hours resume at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2.
TOM and Tourism staff will be on site during Canada Day celebrations at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park. Stop by the booth to learn more about local programs, upcoming events, and to pick up some great Owen Sound merchandise.
Parks and Open Space Facilities:
The public washrooms at Harrison Park and Kelso Beach at Nawash Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Kelso Beach at Nawash Park will be home to Canada Day celebrations on Tuesday, July 1, beginning at 10 a.m.
The Greenwood Cemetery Office at 190 2nd Ave East will be closed on Tuesday, July 1 and will re-open on Wednesday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m.
Recreational Facilities:
The Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre will be open for regular hours (with rentals) on Tuesday, July 1.
The Bayshore Community Centre will be closed on Monday, June 30, as well as Tuesday, July 1.
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is open on Tuesday, July 1 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with modified programming.
Owen Sound Police:
Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For non-emergencies, please call 519-376-1234. For emergencies, call 911.
Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services:
Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For non-emergencies, please call 519-376-2512. For emergencies, call 911.
By-law Enforcement:
Complaints or questions can be submitted online anytime. Regular By-Law hours will resume on Wednesday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m.
