Emergence Call For Submissions

Emergence 2026 – High School Art Exhibition

Emergence 2026 is the first biennial art exhibition celebrating the creativity, curiosity, and evolving artistic voices of high school students from across the Grey-Bruce and Owen Sound region. Organized by the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, the exhibition highlights new ideas, perspectives, and forms of expression emerging from young artists as they explore their developing identities and engage with the world around them.

All Grade 9–12 students from the Grey-Bruce and Owen Sound region are invited to participate by submitting digital images of their work in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, or mixed media. Accepted works will be professionally installed by gallery staff, and prizes will be juried by TOM staff, with winners announced at the opening reception on Saturday, April 25th.

Visitors to Emergence 2026 can expect a dynamic and diverse array of artistic styles and themes, from thought-provoking conceptual works to expressive portraits, breathtaking landscapes, and experimental mixed media. Beyond showcasing individual talent, the exhibition celebrates the importance of arts education, providing students with recognition for their creativity, the opportunity to connect with peers and art enthusiasts, and a platform to inspire others.

Emergence 2026 is a testament to the power of art to inspire, provoke, and unite communities, while nurturing the next generation of artistic voices.
