What’s Open and Closed in Owen Sound for the Civic Holiday Weekend 2026

As the August long weekend approaches, the City wants to help you plan ahead with details on facility closures and adjusted hours for Monday, August 3. 

City Hall: Closed Monday, August 3, 2026. Regular hours of operation resume at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4.  
  
 

Public Works: Closed Monday, August 3. Regular hours of operation resume at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4.  
  
 

Transit: The Transit Terminal will be open 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3, for GOST ticket purchases and washroom access. Guelph Owen Sound Transit (GOST) will remain operating its regular schedule every day. 
  

Owen Sound Transit and Mobility Transit will not run on Monday, August 3 (or on Sunday, August 2 as per regular hours).  Regular service will resume on Tuesday, August 4.

Waste Management: The Transfer Station will be closed Monday, August 3.  Regular hours of operation resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4.

Leaf & Yard Waste Compost Site: Open regular hours from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. 

Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library: Closed on Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3. Regular hours of operation resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4. 

Tom Thomson Art Gallery: Closed on Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3. Regular hours of operation resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4. 

Owen Sound Tourism Services: Will remain open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, August 3.  

Bayshore Community Centre: Open Sunday August 2 for 4 p.m. Senior B Lacrosse Playoff Game if necessary. Open regular operating hours Monday, August 3. 

Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre: Open regular hours Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3. 

YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce: Open regular hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, closed on Monday, August 3.   

Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services: Staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  For emergencies, call 911; for non-emergencies, call

Owen Sound Police Services: Staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  For emergencies, call 911; for non-emergencies, call 519-376-1234. 

By-law Enforcement: By-law complaints or City issues can be submitted online at OwenSound.ca/ReportAConcern, and a by-law officer or appropriate City staff will follow up as soon as possible.
