New Public-Access AED SaveStations installed at City Hall and Kelso Beach at Nawash Park Honouring Tyson Downs’ Legacy

Thanks to a donation from the Tyson Downs Association (TDBeAT), with support from the Owen Sound Attack, the City of Owen Sound is proud to announce the installation of new public-access Automated External Defibrillator (AED SaveStation) at two additional locations in the City of Owen Sound: City Hall and Kelso Beach at Nawash Park.

The two new units have been installed in high traffic areas of our community.  One on the south exterior wall along 8th Street East at City Hall and the other on the water facing wall of the Order of Good Cheer Washrooms at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park. These AED SaveStations provide 24/7 access to life-saving equipment in some of the community’s busiest outdoor destinations.

The City of Owen Sound now has three AED SaveStations throughout the City, thanks to the generosity of the Tyson Downs Association and the Owen Sound Attack.

The Tyson Downs Association’s TDBeAT program offers free CPR and AED awareness training and education to youth aged 16 to 21, helping equip the next generation with the skills and confidence to respond in critical situations.

These donations and installation represent a powerful legacy for Tyson Downs, whose sudden passing inspired family and friends to take action. Guided by Tyson’s words, “You don’t need to be the best, you just need to give your best,” TDBeAT continues to channel that spirit into efforts that empower others to learn lifesaving skills and make a difference in critical moments.

The SaveStation outdoor cabinet, which houses the AED, is monitored 24/7 through cellular technology and designed to be accessible in all weather conditions.
