16th Avenue E Road Closure for Final Phase of Sanitary Sewer Project

The City of Owen Sound is notifying motorists of a road closure along 16th Avenue E between 17th Street E and 20th Street East starting on Monday, June 8, 2026.

This is the final phase of the sanitary sewer repair project along 16th Avenue E. The work is scheduled to be completed by July 1, 2026. Motorists are asked to follow the detour routes posted.

There will be changes to the Core Route of Owen Sound Transit. These changes include:

• Redirection at 16th Ave E and 17th St E along 17th St E to 16th St E. This route will be detoured along 16th St E and 9th Ave E. Pick up and drop off at the Heritage Place mall will still be accommodated during this detour. 
• Temporary relocation of 3 bus stops including:
  • The bus stop near 1580 20th Street E, Grey Bruce Paint & Decor. This bus stop is being relocated to 1995 9th Ave E. 
  • The bus stop near 1300 20th St E, A1 Storage System Inc. This bus stop is being relocated to 1995 9th Ave E. 
  • The bus stop near 2005 9th Ave E. This bus stop is being relocated to 1995 9th Ave E.
