Junior Firefighter Program

🔥 Owen Sound Junior Firefighter Camp – Inspiring Tomorrow’s Heroes 🔥

Give your child an experience they’ll never forget! Each spring, Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services hosts its Junior Firefighter Camp — a unique, five-week program designed for local students in Grades 5 and 6.

This hands-on learning opportunity introduces young participants to the world of firefighting and community safety. Junior Firefighters will work alongside real firefighters, discovering teamwork, responsibility, and confidence while learning practical life skills.

Throughout the program, participants will:

🚒 Learn how to use fire extinguishers and alarms
📞 Understand 911 dispatch and radio communication
🧯 Try on firefighting gear and use breathing apparatus (SCBA)
🪜 Practice hose handling, ladder safety, and pump operations
⛑️ Gain basic first aid and fire suppression skills

Each Junior Firefighter receives an official uniform T-shirt to wear during sessions — and best of all, there’s no cost to participate.

Registration opens in late winter, and spaces are limited to 40 participants, so mark your calendars early!
