What’s Open and Closed in Owen Sound for the Civic Holiday Weekend

As the August long weekend approaches, the City wants to help you plan ahead with details on facility closures and adjusted hours for Monday, August 4.

City Hall: Closed Monday, August 4, 2025. Regular hours of operation resume at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. 
 
Public Works: Closed Monday, August 4. Regular hours of operation resume at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5. 
 
Transit: Transit Terminal remains open until 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4, for GOST ticket purchases.
Guelph Owen Sound Transit (GOST) will remain operating its regular schedule.

Owen Sound Transit and Mobility Transit will not run on Monday, August 4.  Regular service will resume on Tuesday, August 5. 

Visit OwenSound.ca/Transit to learn more about the Transit app, which allows riders to easily plan trips and track buses in real-time. 

Waste Transfer Station: Closed Monday, August 4, 2025.  Regular hours of operation resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.  

Leaf & Yard Waste Compost Site: Open regular hours from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library: Closed on Sunday, August 3 and Monday, August 4, 2025. Regular hours of operation resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

Tom Thomson Art Gallery & Owen Sound Visitors’ Services: Will remain open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, August 4. 

Bayshore Community Centre: Closed Saturday, August 2 through Monday, August 4, 2025.

Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre: Open regular hours Saturday, August 2 through to Monday, August 4, 2025.

YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce: Open regular hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. all weekend, including Monday, August 4, 2025.  The holiday program schedule for August 4 can be found online at YMCAOwenSound.on.ca.

Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services: Staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  For emergencies, call 911; for non-emergencies, call 519-376-2512.

Owen Sound Police Services: Staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  For emergencies, call 911; for non-emergencies, call 519-376-1234.

By-law Enforcement: By-law complaints or City issues can be submitted online at OwenSound.ca/ReportAConcern, and a by-law officer or appropriate City staff will follow up as soon as possible.
