Owen Sound Fire Department Pairs with Troy Life & Fire Safety for Public Education Partnership

Saved by the Beep

Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services is pleased to announce a partnership with Troy Life & Fire Safety for a public education campaign called Saved by the Beep. The initiative recognizes Thursday, September 28, 2023, as Ontario’s first ‘Test Your Smoke Alarm Day’. As part of the event, all Ontarians are encouraged to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety, and home fire escape planning, which can save lives. Most importantly, everyone is encouraged to test their smoke alarms. Last year there were 133 fire fatalities in the province – the most in 20 years.

Owen Sound residents can expect to receive fire safety pamphlets delivered to their homes in the coming weeks and will see door decals about this event on public buildings as well as a banner on the side of the Fire Department’s Pumper 2.

For more information, visit SavedByTheBeep.ca for free, downloadable resources available in 19 languages. You can also participate in the campaign by snapping a photo of you or your family members testing your smoke alarms and posting it to social media using the hashtag #SavedByTheBeep.
