Fire Department Responds to Fire at Victoria Park Fairgrounds Grandstand

At 12:31 a.m. this morning, the Owen Sound Fire duty crew responded to the area of the Owen Sound Agricultural Society’s grandstand building at Victoria Park after receiving a report of a fire.  Upon arrival, the crew found the grandstand structure to be fully on fire and response was elevated to a second alarm. The Fire was contained and under control by 2:15 a.m. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.   

Significant damage to the grandstand structure and the buildings occurred as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated at this time.

Quick Facts: 

• The City’s Chief Building Officer will be inspecting the building and ensuring the perimeter is secure. 

• The buildings at the fairgrounds, including the grandstand, are owned by the Owen Sound Agricultural Society (OSAS). 

• The grandstand was originally built in the early 1950s refurbished by the OSAS in 2023.
