February 6, 2026: Warming Centres During Extreme Cold Event

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for this weekend, February 7 and 8. The City of Owen Sound is reminding residents of the Warming Centres available during such an event. If caught outside in extreme cold, seek shelter in designated warming stations during regular business hours.  

Locations include: 

 

Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre/YMCA Share Corridor  

700 10th Street East  

Saturday and Sunday: 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

 

Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library 

824 1st Avenue West 

Saturday: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.  

 

24-Hour Warming Centre: 

Safe n' Sound at 310 8th Street East is open 24/7 from November 1 to March 31 for the 2025 winter season. Safe and Sound is closed from 1 PM to 3 PM for essential cleaning to maintain the space. 

During the 1 PM to 3 PM timeframe, individuals are directed to OSHARE at 946 3rd Ave East. 

 

Residents requiring assistance, emergency shelter, or community supports are reminded to call 211. 211 is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. An online 211 resource is also available.
