Precautionary Boil Water Advisory LIFTED

In consultation with Grey Bruce Public Health, the City of Owen Sound’s precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted, effective immediately (Monday, March 16 at 5:30 p.m.)

The precautionary boil water advisory for the City of Owen Sound has been lifted based on an engineering assessment, conducted by Public Health Ontario and the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), confirming adequate disinfection of the water. This confirms the water is safe to drink.

A precautionary boil water advisory, like the one issued in Owen Sound, is issued when there’s no confirmed contamination, but one or more of the water-testing parameters indicate there could be a risk to public health (in this case, the turbidity or cloudiness of the water).  A standard boil water advisory is issued when the presence of harmful pathogens has been confirmed in the drinking water supply.

2026 Sports Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony Tickets Available March 17

On behalf of the Sports Hall of Fame Committee, the City of Owen Sound is pleased to invite the public to purchase tickets for the 2026 Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner.  The event is being held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Tickets are available beginning Tuesday, March 17, at City Hall.

 

The event begins with social hour at 5:30 p.m. on May 8, with dinner at 7 p.m. and the Induction Ceremony to follow, beginning at 8:30 p.m.  The Ceremony will be televised on Rogers Local Cable TV.

 

Tickets are $50 per person for the dinner and awards ceremony.  They can be purchased by cash or cheque on Tuesdays to Thursdays, in the afternoon, at the Community Services front counter in City Hall.  Those interested are encouraged to get their tickets early. A limited number of tickets are available until April 30, or until sold out.
