Secure Your 2026 Salmon Spectacular Camping and Boating Permits Now

Summer plans and vacations are underway for many, including the 2026 Salmon Spectacular which runs Friday, August 28, through Sunday, September 6, 2026. The City of Owen Sound reminds residents and visitors to plan ahead for camping and boating needs.

Introduced last year, a Fish Derby Camping (FDC) permit system is in place to help balance harbourfront use during the Salmon Spectacular. Permits to camp overnight in specified areas along the inner harbour wall are available for purchase online at OwenSound.ca/FDC or in person at City Hall.

Each FDC permit is $150 per vehicle and allows camping in designated inner harbour locations from noon on Wednesday, August 26, to noon on Monday, September 7, 2026. Passes are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and permit holders must be registered participants in the fishing derby.

Those looking for a more traditional campground experience can book sites at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park or Harrison Park online at OwenSound.ca/Camping.

Day passes (and season passes) for the East Side and West Side boat launches can also be purchased online at OwenSoundBoatLaunch.ca. Day passes are $10 + HST, and Season Passes (valid until October 2026) are $100 + HST. Both launches feature ample trailer parking, washrooms, and waterfront trail access, all within walking distance of Owen Sound’s River District.

By booking in advance online, participants and visitors can ensure smooth access to camping and boating facilities during one of Owen Sound’s busiest and most celebrated summer events.
