Saturday July 18 is Goods Exchange Day

The second of three Goods Exchange Days for 2026 will be taking place on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

Goods Exchange Day diverts usable items and materials from landfill disposal. It is also a great way to get rid of unwanted stuff without the hassle of hosting a garage sale.

City residents are invited to place unwanted but still usable items at the curb in front of their homes after 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 18. If you are looking for something, tour the city and pick up items you can reuse.

Popular Goods Exchange Day items include sporting goods, furniture, small appliances, books, art, tools, toys, doors, sinks, windows etc. Anything that does not find a new home must be taken back inside by 6 p.m.

To ensure that items at the curb are recognized as Goods Exchange Day items, we ask that residents tie a white plastic bag to one of the items at the curb.

As always, residents are reminded to please drive carefully, watch for pedestrians, and obey traffic laws in their quest for curb side treasures.

For more information, please contact Heidi Jennen, Supervisor of Environmental Services at 519-376-4440 ext. 3223 or email hjennen@owensound.ca
