Pride Parade and Block Party Road Closures on Saturday, June 13 as Owen Sound celebrates Pride Month

June is Pride Month — a time to celebrate the diversity, strength, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, while reaffirming our shared commitment to inclusion, respect, and belonging for all.

In Owen Sound, we know that a strong community is built by the people who shape it. Our city continues to grow and thrive because of the many voices, experiences, and identities that make this community vibrant, compassionate, and connected. Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate those contributions and to continue building a city where everyone feels welcomed, valued, respected, and safe to be their authentic selves.

Our community’s journey toward greater inclusion and visibility has been shaped by local advocates and leaders who have created space for celebration, connection, and belonging. In 2018, Owen Sound District Secondary School student Ryan Brown organized the first Pride parade in the Scenic City — an important milestone that reflects the courage, leadership, and community spirit that continues to shape our city today.

On behalf of Council and Staff, the City extends sincere gratitude to Grey Bruce Pride, PFlag Owen Sound, and the Big Gay Block Party Team for the organization for the events, along with their ongoing work to support, advocate for, and uplift members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across the region. Their efforts foster acceptance, connection, education, and belonging for individuals and families throughout Grey Bruce.

As a community, we continue working toward a future that is welcoming, inclusive, and connected — one where people from all walks of life can find belonging and opportunity. That future is built through continued listening, learning, and supporting one another.

Residents and visitors are invited to join the celebration on Saturday, June 13, 2026, when the River District will welcome the 2026 Pride Parade and Block Party. Grey Bruce Pride Parade organizers encourage folks to register for the event, to receive the most up to date information, however all are welcome to walk/roll along in the parade.
