Owen Sound Firefighter Earns Silver at FireFit World Championship

The City of Owen Sound and Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services are proud to recognize firefighter Joe Forbes for his outstanding performance at the FireFit World Championship, held September 13, 2026 in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Forbes completed the championship course with an impressive time of 1:11.48, earning second place overall in the world against some of the sport's top competitors.

Joe has been a member of Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services for nine years and has been an active competitor in FireFit events throughout his firefighting career. His dedication to physical fitness, training, and professional excellence has made him a strong ambassador for both the department and the community.

FireFit competitions are designed to showcase the physical demands of firefighting through a series of challenging events that test strength, endurance, speed and skill.

The department is also looking forward to welcoming athletes and spectators to the region in 2028, when the FireFit World Championship is scheduled to be hosted in Grey Bruce.

The City of Owen Sound extends its congratulations to Joe and thanks him for representing the community with pride and excellence.
