Owen Sound Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire

The Owen Sound Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire this afternoon in the 2000 block of 9th Avenue East involving a single-family home that was fully engulfed upon firefighter’s arrival.

A total of 14 firefighters responded to the scene. Crews responded at approximately 2:24 p.m. and had water applied to the fire by 2:30 p.m., quickly bringing the blaze under control.

One occupant was inside the home at the time of the fire and was able to safely evacuate without injury.

Damage to the residence is estimated at approximately $500,000. The Fire Prevention Division remains on scene and is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
