Owen Sound Celebrates Summer with a Season Full of Music, Festivals, Shopping and Community Events
From June through September, Owen Sound's vibrant River District, waterfront, and historic sites will come alive with free concerts, community celebrations, shopping events, heritage experiences, and family-friendly activities! The 2026 summer lineup features the return of popular favourites including the Canada Day Celebration, Mid Week Music, TD Harbour Nights, Doors Open Owen Sound, and the River District's Hottest Street Sale, plus exciting new activities, like the light drone show on June 30. Summer Highlights Include:
Two-day Canada Day Celebrations – June 30 & July 1
The City of Owen Sound’s expanded Canada Day celebrations return to Kelso Beach at Nawash Park with two days of family-friendly fun, live entertainment, food vendors, and a vibrant marketplace. The festivities begin on June 30 with gates opening at 1 p.m., and include a stunning drone light show over the soccer field at 10 p.m. The fun continues Wednesday, July 1 with a full day of activities starting at 10 a.m. capped off by a spectacular fireworks display over the water. Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Canada’s birthday on the shores of Georgian Bay – where else would you rather be?!
Mid Week Music – Wednesdays, June to September
Presented throughout the summer at unique locations across the city, Mid Week Music offers free outdoor performances featuring talented local and regional musicians. Concerts take place at locations including City Hall, the Marine & Rail Museum, the Owen Sound Farmers' Market, Billy Bishop Museum, The Launch, and other community gathering spaces. Mid Week Music starts at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and is free to attend.
Owen Sound will kick off Pride Month celebrations with the 8th Annual Owen Sound Pride Parade and Big Gay Block Party on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The event will be hosted in the River District beginning with a vibrant afternoon parade at 3 p.m. Join us to see the downtown core transform into a high-energy community celebration featuring live music, food trucks, licensed patios, vendors, and family-friendly activities. As the evening continues, the celebration builds into a street party with performances, community gathering spaces, and a signature Glow Party that lights up the night. The event is free to attend and celebrate diversity, inclusion, and community connection in the heart of the River District.
TD Harbour Nights – Sundays, June 14 to August 16
Celebrating another season of waterfront entertainment, TD Harbour Nights brings free live music to the Marine and Rail Museum every Sunday evening. Audiences are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and enjoy performances by a variety of talented and experienced musicians while taking in beautiful harbour views. Performances start at 7 p.m. with the final two weekends featuring two shows, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Hottest Street Sale – Saturday, July 11
One of the River District's largest annual events transforms main street into a lively outdoor marketplace. Visitors can enjoy shopping, entertainment, activities, community displays, and local food while exploring the heart of the city. Join the River District for a day full of fun for the whole family including the return of the Summerfolk Stage and the Community Stage by Owen Sound & District Chamber of Commerce. The Hottest Street Sale runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Outdoor Movie Nights – Select Fridays in July & August
All ages are welcome to join us for free family-friendly films in some of the city’s most vibrant community spaces. The series kicks off July 10 at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park Amphitheatre with GOAT, followed by Big Hero 6 at the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre on July 24. On August 14, audiences can enjoy Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market, with the season wrapping up on August 28 at the City Hall Front Plaza with Freakier Friday. Each screening invites residents and visitors to gather under the stars with lawn chairs and blankets for relaxed summer evenings filled with great entertainment in the heart of the community. All movies start at dusk with the site opening at 7 p.m. for featured activities.
Owen Sound After Dark: Whispers of the Sound – Set Dates
Ghost Stories, Shipwrecks & Dark History! Led by a passionate local storyteller with a love of theatre, folklore, and historical mysteries, Owen Sound After Dark is an immersive 2-hour walking experience through some of the city’s most haunted, mysterious, and legendary locations.
From ghostly hotels and unexplained happenings to shipwreck tragedies and long-forgotten scandals, each stop reveals stories that continue to echo through the streets of Owen Sound. As dusk settles over the harbour, guests will explore historic buildings, hidden corners, and eerie tales inspired by real events, local legends, and the people who once called this city home. Expect an evening filled with spine-tingling ambiance, storytelling, and fascinating history — where the line between fact and folklore begins to blur. Perfect for visitors, history lovers, paranormal enthusiasts, and anyone looking to experience Owen Sound from a completely different perspective. Tours are approximately 2 hours in length and accessible. Recommended for ages 12+. Tickets: $20 when pre-booked or $25 when purchased in person. Doors Open Owen Sound – Saturday, July 18
Explore the stories, architecture, and hidden treasures that have shaped Owen Sound through Doors Open Owen Sound. This free heritage event invites residents and visitors to step inside some of the city's most fascinating buildings, cultural spaces, places of worship, and historic landmarks that are not always open to the public. Participants can enjoy self-guided tours, exhibits, and unique behind-the-scenes experiences while discovering the rich history and character of the Scenic City. Doors Open Owen Sound takes place on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is part of the province-wide Doors Open Ontario program.
