New Public-Access AED SaveStation Installed at Harrison Park Honours Tyson Downs’ Legacy
Thanks to a donation from the Tyson Downs Association (TDBeAT), with support from the Owen Sound Attack, the City of Owen Sound is proud to announce the installation of a new public-access Automated External Defibrillator (AED SaveStation) at Harrison Park. Located on the north wall of the Harrison Park Inn restaurant, the AED SaveStation provides 24/7 access to life-saving equipment in one of the community’s busiest outdoor destinations.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday June 17 at 5:30 p.m., beside the AED SaveStation to officially unveil the life-saving equipment. All members of the public are welcome to attend and learn more about this important initiative. Action First Aid will be on hand to demonstrate how the AED machine works and how easy it is to use when needed.
The Tyson Downs Association’s TDBeAT program offers free CPR and AED awareness training and education to youth aged 16 to 21, helping equip the next generation with the skills and confidence to respond in critical situations.
This donation and installation represent a powerful legacy for Tyson Downs, whose sudden passing inspired family and friends to take action. Guided by Tyson’s words, “You don’t need to be the best, you just need to give your best,” TDBeAT continues to channel that spirit into efforts that empower others to learn lifesaving skills and make a difference in critical moments.
The SaveStation outdoor cabinet, which houses the AED, is monitored 24/7 through cellular technology and designed to be accessible in all weather conditions.
