Final Days to File Nominations for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election

The City of Owen Sound is reminding residents that nominations for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election close at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026. Individuals interested in serving their community as Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillor or School Board Trustee have only a few days remaining to submit their nomination papers.

Municipal government plays an important role in shaping the future of our community. Decisions made by elected officials influence local infrastructure, recreation, economic development, public safety, environmental services, and the quality of life residents experience every day. Serving in elected office provides an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the future of Owen Sound.

The City is encouraging prospective candidates not to wait to the final day to file. Election staff are available to answer questions, review nomination requirements, and help ensure nomination packages are complete before they are submitted. Filing ahead of the deadline can help avoid delays caused by incomplete endorsement forms, missing signatures, or other missing information.
