Demolition Planned for 994 1st Avenue East Beginning June 9

The City of Owen Sound, in partnership with Priestly Demolition Contractors, will begin demolition of the building located at 994 1st Avenue East on June 9, 2026. 

The structure has been identified as a safety hazard and requires removal to meet insurance safety standards. Work is expected to continue through to approximately June 30, 2026. 

To accommodate the demolition and ensure public safety, 1st Avenue East will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 9th Street East and 10th Street East for the duration of the project. No vehicle access will be permitted within this section during demolition and site cleanup. 

The City of Owen Sound appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as this necessary work is completed to improve safety in the area. Businesses and residents impacted by this work have been notified directly.
