8th Street East Sidewalk Replacement Project to Begin October 5
The City of Owen Sound advises residents, businesses, and visitors that a sidewalk concrete replacement project will take place on 8th Street East between 2nd Avenue East and 3rd Avenue East from Monday, October 5 to Thursday, October 8, 2026.
To accommodate the work, the roadway will be closed daily from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During these hours, the road will remain accessible to local traffic only, allowing continued access for area businesses and residents.
The City is working to minimize disruption throughout the project and will always maintain at least one sidewalk open to pedestrian traffic.
Waste collection services will not be affected. Miller Waste will continue to access the area during the scheduled closure periods to complete garbage collection as usual.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan for possible delays and use caution when travelling through the area. The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of businesses, residents, and motorists while this important infrastructure work is completed.
