Sewer Inspection Program to start in Owen Sound Next Week
Beginning Monday, June 2, the City of Owen Sound will commence a sanitary sewer inspection project as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain and assess critical underground infrastructure. The project is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, focusing on the area east of the Sydenham River near the downtown core, as shown in the map below.
The City has once again retained Rapid Assessment Technology Services Inc. (RATS) to carry out the work, using rapid acoustic technology to inspect the condition of sanitary sewer mains. This non-invasive method allows staff to quickly identify potential issues such as blockages, structural weaknesses, or other maintenance needs, without disrupting service.
By detecting potential issues early, the City can fix them before they become more serious. Residents should note:
- There is no disruption to sewer or water services expected during the inspection period.
- Minimal traffic disruptions may occur where crews are working, but these will be temporary and localized.
