Road Rehabilitation on 9th Avenue East Project Update
The City of Owen Sound is advising motorists and residents of the status of the 9th Avenue East Reconstruction Project.
Construction on this project has been underway since July 2025 and is scheduled to begin wrapping up during the week of December 1. 6th Street East will reopen to motorists by Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
The bus shelters located at Lee Manor on 6th Street East and the Court House building on 9th Avenue East along the Crosstown route that were previously out of service will be reinstated as of Wednesday. Once these stops are reinstated, the temporary bus stop locations at the corner of 8th Avenue and 6th Street and at 617 8th Avenue East will be discontinued as of Wednesday, December 3.
This construction project required detours and the closure or rerouting of pedestrian and transit facilities throughout the summer and fall. Those travelling through the corridor will soon notice significant improvements in road configuration and pedestrian accommodations.
We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation throughout this important infrastructure upgrade.
