Passing of Former City Councillor and Dedicated Volunteer, Ann Kelly
The City of Owen Sound is saddened to share the passing of former Councillor Ann Kelly, a passionate and lifelong community volunteer.
Ann served on Owen Sound City Council from 1989 to 1997, and again from 2001-2003. Ann’s life was marked by a deep commitment to service, compassion, and community spirit.
She was recognized as the City’s Volunteer of the Year in 1992 and was honoured with the Ontario June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Volunteerism in 2009. Her generous contributions extended to numerous community initiatives, including the Festival of Northern Lights, Bells of Christmas, Santa’s Workshop, and many more. Ann’s dedication left a lasting imprint on Owen Sound and inspired countless residents.
Ann leaves behind a legacy of leadership, kindness, and connection. Her passion and dedication to making Owen Sound better will be deeply missed. The City offers its condolences to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home on Friday, September 5, from 1 – 4 p.m. Ann’s obituary can be found here.
Flags at city facilities will be lowered to half-mast in Ann's honour on Tuesday, September 2, until Monday, September 8, to coincide with the public celebration of her life.
