Owen Sound Celebrates Groundbreaking of Major New Waterfront Housing Project

The City of Owen Sound is celebrating the groundbreaking of a landmark housing project that will bring 267 new rental suites to the community. Located at 3195 East Bayshore Road, the development by SkyDev, part of Skyline, represents a major step forward in expanding local housing options and supporting long-term growth in the area.

Once home to the RCA factory where radio and television cabinets were proudly built, the former brownfield site is now being reimagined and transformed into a vibrant new community.  Situated along Owen Sound’s incredible Georgian Bay waterfront and just minutes from downtown, the East Bayshore development will offer residents a prime location close to transit, recreational trails, the Kiwanis Soccer Complex, and a variety of amenities.

The East Bayshore development is designed as part of a larger multi-phase plan for the property, with the first phase permitting three apartment buildings and one amenity building. When fully built, the site will include eight six-story apartment buildings, totalling 712 units, along with on-site amenities, recreational facilities and landscaped green space. The buildings will feature open-concept suites with high-quality finishes, on-site amenities, expansive open spaces, and westerly views over Georgian Bay.

This project represents one of the largest purpose-built rental housing developments in Owen Sound in recent years and demonstrates the City’s ongoing commitment to working with private sector partners to expand housing availability across the community.
