Leaf and Yard Waste Compost Site Closure Beginning Wednesday, August 27

The City of Owen Sound Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Facility, located at 2450 28th Avenue East, is scheduled to be closed from Wednesday, August 27 to the end of the day Friday, August 29, and Tuesday September 2 to end of day Wednesday, September 3 to allow for wood grinding to occur.  Changes to these hours may occur due to contractor requirements and weather.  

The facility is expected to resume regular operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the Labour Day weekend on Saturday, August 30 to Monday September 1.  

Grinding takes place annually and is completed by a third-party contractor.  The equipment used for the grinding operation does not allow safe access to the site for the public.  

The City apologizes for any inconvenience the site closure may cause.

• Disposal of material at the closed gate is prohibited and monitored regularly.   

• The City of Owen Sound’s Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Site is open to residents of the City of Owen Sound, Township of Georgian Bluffs and the Municipality of Meaford free of charge for the 2025 season.
