Harrison Park Good Cheer Rink Closed for the Season
After another well-used winter season, the City of Owen Sound announces that the Good Cheer Rink at Harrison Park is now closed for the season.
The outdoor rink opened on December 22, 2025, and thanks to favourable conditions and dedicated Parks staff, it remained open for all but three days until Thursday, March 5. With warmer and more variable weather conditions now setting in, the decision has been made to close the rink for the season.
Throughout the winter months, the Good Cheer Rink provided a welcoming outdoor space for residents and visitors to stay active, practice their skating skills, and enjoy time together in one of the city’s most scenic parks. The City thanks everyone who visited the rink this season and helped make it a lively community gathering place.
As the seasons change, the area will soon transition to its warm-weather use. Seasonal basketball nets will be installed as soon as weather conditions permit.
Residents looking to continue skating can take advantage of indoor public skating opportunities at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre and the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. During March Break, families can also enjoy a number of free public skates sponsored by generous community partners at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre.
