Free Junior Firefighter Program Begins in May

Junior Firefighter program

Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services are excited to be starting a Junior Firefighter program in May of this year. This free youth training program will be open to students in grades 5 or 6 at Owen Sound Schools. Fire Department staff will be visiting students in grades 5 and 6 at Owen Sound Schools today with a registration package.

The free program will run for six consecutive Tuesday evenings beginning May 2 through June 6, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters Station (1209 3rd Avenue East).  Participants will be in four crews learning fire prevention, suppression, auto extrication, first aid basics and many more skills.

Early registration is encouraged as space is limited.  Students can register through the packages received at their schools, or by contacting Fire Prevention Officer Greg Nicol.  An information and supplies package will be provided upon completion of registration.

For more information, please contact Greg Nicol, Fire Prevention Officer at 519-376-2512 ext. 2243 or email gnicol@owensound.ca
