City to Pilot Minor Timing Changes for Owen Sound Transit
The City will pilot minor afternoon timing adjustments to Owen Sound Transit (OST) in an effort to improve on-time performance.
OST faces delays in the early and mid-afternoon due to traffic, school dismissals, construction, and weather. Recent changes improved reliability, but keeping buses on a 30-minute schedule during peak times remains difficult.
Beginning February 1, 2026, service will be adjusted to include two longer weekday afternoon trips on a six-month pilot basis. The temporary schedule adjustment will include:
-
One 45-minute trip between 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.
-
A second 45-minute trip beginning at 3:15 p.m.
Outside of these periods, buses will continue to operate on the regular 30-minute schedule.
As part of the pilot, the City will be seeking feedback directly from transit users. A rider survey will be released in May/June, giving customers an opportunity to share their experiences and provide input on how the timing changes are working for them.
