Snowmobile Owen Sound

"If you’re looking for some stellar riding, why not snowmobile Owen Sound in Ontario? The City of Owen Sound is the major population centre for the region popularly known as “The Grey Bruce” in the northern corner of what’s broadly referred to as Southwestern Ontario. The Grey Bruce is also part of OFSC District 9 and this partnership between Grey County and Bruce County makes for one great staging destination for your sledding getaway."

A Destination Wedding of a Different Colour

"I could be wrong, but I doubt there will be an Owen Sound booth at the upcoming Toronto’s Bridal Show. But now I know there should be. Despite being the site of the Great Coffee Cup Collapse of 2015, the Saturday evening (and Sunday morning!) affair at the upscale Cobble Beach Golf Resort was a blast. That came as no surprise.

What was a surprise to this Owen Sound neophyte was just how much the aptly-nicknamed Scenic City has to offer. And it all cost not a single dime."

Google map plots Canada's best tobogganing hills

Owen Sound’s Harrison Park made Google’s map of the greatest toboggan hills. Harrison Park is the most beloved toboggan hill in the region, but families with youngsters also flock to the smaller hill at Ryerson Park, in the heart of downtown at 8th Street East and 5th Ave. The hill at Indian Falls Conservation Area just north of town also made the map and is another great spot for young sledders.

Grey Bruce KidsThis is Salmon Country

"The Owen Sound Salmon Tour is a once-in-a-lifetime event for the Chinook Salmon that populate Georgian Bay and migrate up the Sydenham River to spawn.

Unlike most of the world’s other fish, salmon make this journey only once, dying in the act of creating new life. It’s nature’s incredible adventure!

Kids and adults alike are fascinated by the process. It’s a sure sign of fall in Grey and Bruce counties when crowds gather at the city’s mill dam to watch the mighty salmon scale the fish ladder."

Salmon Run Focus of Tour

The chinook salmon's annual journey up the Sydenham River is the focus of a new fall tour.

The Owen Sound Tourism-led Salmon Run Tour will be held in Owen Sound this fall and will feature many of the city's landmarks along the route.

"It is a way for when people are visiting Owen Sound to move them right through town," said Paulette Peirol, Owen Sound Tourism's marketing co-ordinator. "There are not many places where you have a salmon run right through the downtown."
