What is Owen Sound WiFi?

Owen Sound WiFi is a free wireless internet service provided by the City of Owen Sound and participating downtown businesses. The Owen Sound WiFi network is composed of many wireless hotspots Computer Wifilocated downtown Owen Sound, City Hall, Harrison Park, Kelso Beach, the Bayshore, and the Regional Recreation Centre. The internet service provides 1Mbps and is free and secure, with filters setup preventing inappropriate use.

How does it work?

The City, along with several downtown businesses have installed wireless devices that provide the Owen Sound WiFi service. City IT Department staff have installed and configured a wireless device at each participating business location which securely shares a portion of their internet bandwidth with the public. The shared bandwidth is used to provide free internet service.

How do I connect to the Owen Sound WiFi?

Simply open a browser. A splash page will appear displaying the participating businesses in the Owen Sound WiFi network. Click on Continue and proceed with browsing the internet. If you are using an application other than a browser that connects to the internet, you will need to start the session by opening a browser and clicking on Continue.

This free service is an open public network provided for your convenience and its use is at your own risk. The providers cannot and do not guarantee the privacy of your data and communication while using the service.
