Maawanji'iding: Festival Canadiana Owen Sound - June 30 to July 9, 2017
The centerpiece of Owen Sound's year-long celebration of Canada's 150th and Owen Sound's 160th anniversaries, Maawanji'iding (meaning "gathering" in the local Ojibwe indigenous language) is a ten-day festival with entertainment and activities for all ages. Most events are Free or by donation!

Enjoy family activities including inflatable attractions, circus workshops, craft demonstrations, food vendors, and entertainment throughout the weekend. Each day has a special theme, with Canada's 150th celebration marked with fireworks and an extra-special entertainment program on the Saturday. Free admission - donations encouraged. PARKING: outside the fence at Kelso Beach Park. Parking inside fence is for participants and vehicles displaying barrier-free parking permits only. Additional parking available at Keystone Child, Youth & Family Services, 1793 3rd Avenue West, and Owen Sound Medical Centre, 1415 1st Avenue West. The story of Owen Sound through music by prominent local musicians, spoken word by the Métissage Collective, and an interactive visual presentation by youth of our area called #MyOwenSound. The big day includes a dedication of the Gitche Namewikwedong Reconciliation Garden at Kelso Beach Park, inflatable attractions, circus workshops, craft demonstrations, food vendors, and an enhanced entertainment program featuring the JUNO award-winning band Digging Roots, the youth visual presentation #MyCanada, an aerial fire circus by Lookup Theatre, and an amazing fireworks display over Owen Sound harbour!

Imagining Canada's future through the eyes of children and youth. Everyone is welcome to participate in the creative activities planned for this day, including workshops in traditional crafts, circus arts, and innovative technology. Emerging Artists musical showcase and evening performances featuring 2X-JUNO nominee Alysha Brilla and the Brilltones, plus Franco-Ontario band Ariko and sensational youth talent. Plus inflatables, food vendors, artisan market and more.

Please park in designated locations only! Look for Festival Parking signs. Shuttle bus stops are clearly marked and are close to the designated parking areas. East Side Parking at Heritage Place Mall, 1350 16th Street East. Recommended for travelers arriving in Owen Sound on from the east on Highway 26, and from the south on Highways 6 and 10.
West Side Parking at Owen Sound Foodland, 915 10th Street West. Recommended for travelers arriving in Owen Sound on from the west on Highway 21, and from the north on Highway 21 or Grey County Road 1. Shuttle Bus Schedule:
