In the City of Owen Sound 2022 Election, you will be able to vote by phone or online for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors, and School Board Trustee.
Voters in the City of Owen Sound will once again be able to cast their vote from the comfort of their home - or anywhere they can access the internet or telephone - 24 hours a day. Election Day is October 24, 2022. There is an extended voting period (October 14-24) to make casting a ballot even easier and Election Help Centres to provide voter assistance.
Eligibility
To vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election you must be
- A resident, or
- Owner or Tenant, or Spouse of such Owner or Tenant of land in the City of Owen Sound
And are:
- a Canadian Citizen
- at least 18 years of age, and
- Not otherwise prohibited from voting

How can I vote? |
In 2022, voters in the City of Owen Sound will be able to cast their vote from the comfort of their home - or anywhere they can access the internet or telephone - 24 hours a day. Election Day is October 24, 2022. There is an extended voting period (October 14-24) to make casting a ballot even easier and Election Help Centres to provide voter assistance. Long-Term Care Election Help Centres will operated on specific dates to assist those in Long-Term Care facilities with voting. Our service provider, Simply Voting, has created a video to show how to vote by internet. Voters can use any device that connects to the internet including computers, tablets and smartphones. Voters can also use touch-tone telephones. Rotary phones may not be used. A paper ballot will not be used in this election. The City Clerk has developed a full set of procedures including procedures for internet & telephone voting. |
What do you need to vote? |
Voters need to have a Voter Information Letter in order to vote. The letter will be mailed to everyone on the Voters' List in October. The letter will have voting instructions and a unique Personal Identification Number that will be used to log into the internet election site or onto the telephone election platform. |
What if I do not receive a Voter Information Letter? |
If you do not receive a Voter Information Letter in the mail, please visit the Clerk's Office at City Hall with identification to confirm your registration status and receive your letter. |
What if I require assistance voting? |
Election Help CentresElection staff will be available to assist voters at Election Help Centres during the voting period. AccessibilityInternet and telephone voting enables voters with accessible needs, to vote with little or no assistance from others. Persons with accessible needs can use either telephone or internet voting without being required to leave their home or can attend at an Election Help Centre to vote with assistance. An Accessibility Plan has been created for the election. Hospital, Retirement Home and Long-Term Care Centre VotingElection Help Centres will be provided on-site for residents of the following facilities during the voting period (Oct 14-24), provided that public health guidelines and the facilities allow access:
