Accessibility Advisory Committee |
The City of Owen Sound's Accessibility Advisory Committee advises City Council and staff members (on matters that fall within their mandate) on ways to identify, prevent, and remove barriers that may limit opportunities for individuals with disabilities to fully participate in society. The Committee is formed in compliance with the AODA and ODA and includes people with disabilities and City Council representatives. Multi-Year Accessibility Plan |
City Council has adopted a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan, 2019-2023, Transit Accessibility Plan as well as Annual Status Reports which outline the City of Owen Sound's strategy to prevent and remove barriers as well as its priorities related to accessibility. Training |
The City of Owen Sound is committed to training all staff and volunteers in accessible customer service, other Ontario accessibility standards, and aspects of the Ontario Human Rights Code that relate to persons with disabilities. In addition, we will train:
Training of our employees and volunteers on accessibility relates to their specific roles. We train every person as soon as practicable after being hired and provide training in respect of any changes to the policies. The City maintains records of the training provided, including the dates on which the training was provided and the number of individuals to whom it was provided. These training documents are available upon request. |
Alternate Formats |
Documents are available in various accessible formats or with communication support, on request, such as print, electronic, audio, large font, text only, or as a plain language summary. The City will consult with the person making the request to determine the suitability of the format or communication support. We will provide the accessible format in a timely manner and, at no additional cost.
