Every child born in Ontario must be registered with the Office of the Registrar General.
The easiest way to register your baby’s birth and fastest way to apply for their birth certificate and Social Insurance Number all at the same time is through the Newborn Registration Services provided by Service Ontario www.serviceontario.ca/newborn

To register your baby’s birth please visit the Service Ontario website at www.serviceontario.ca/newborn. The Service Ontario, Newborn Registration Service allows parents to electronically submit the Statement of Live Birth, apply for the baby’s Birth Certificate, Social Insurance Number and Canada Child Benefits. Travel Letters are no longer available from the City of Owen Sound. If parents are required to travel with their newborn and have not received the birth certificate, please contact the Office of the Registrar General at 1-800-461-2156 or visit www.serviceontario.ca.
