Chinese New Year Celebration: January 28, 2017

Lupercalia Multi-Arts Festival: February 17-18, 2017

Lupercalia (named after an ancient Roman festival) celebrates music, the spoken word, and culinary delights, including local beer and wine. Presented by Mudtown Records at Heartwood Concert Hall and other venues.

home and cottage expoHome and Cottage Expo: April 22-23, 2017

Grey and Bruce's regional home show, the largest north of Stratford and west of Peterborough. Over 130 exhibitors indoors and out at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. The show includes an exciting feature area, “A Taste of BruceGreySimcoe,” highlighting local food and craft beverages. Exhibitor registration begins in January.


One World FestivalOne World Festival – May 18, 2017

Celebrate the rich cultural diversity in Grey and Bruce with performing artists, school groups and cultural, faith and social justice groups at Market Square in downtown Owen Sound. Free.

Doors OpenDoors Open Owen Sound: June 3-4, 2017

From a maternity hospital to a cemetery, Doors Open Owen Sound gives you a wide-ranging look into the heritage of our community. Many sites feature special events such as art exhibitions, music, and guided tours. This year, there will be costumed interpreters at some sites.

10 action-packed days of family activities, informative events, and entertainment. 

Celebrate Owen Sound'smaawanji'iding logo 160th and Canada's 150th birthdays at Kelso Beach Park and other locations. Featuring fireworks on Canada Day (July 1st). Evening concerts both weekends. Friday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Saturday 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. – Sunday 12 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Donations encouraged.

Dog ShowKennel Club Annual Dog Show: Aug. 8-10,2017

The Grey Bruce Kennel & Obedience Club is involved in a wide variety of activities including dog handling seminars, health clinics and our big event, the Annual Championship Conformation Dog Show and Obedience Trials held in the beautiful Harrison Park.

 

 


Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival: August 18-20, 2017

The internationally-renowned Summerfolk features music from around the world – more than 50 performances and workshops on seven stages on the shores of Georgian Bay. The festival also includes an Artisan Village full of one-of-a-kind hand-crafted works, an interactive children’s area, dance sessions, wine bar, beer tent, and a wide variety of healthy food choices.


Salmon SpectacularOwen Sound Salmon Spectacular: August 25-Sept 3, 2017

Thousands of anglers and their families flock to Owen Sound in hopes of catching the big one at this event, but you do not have to fish to enjoy the free daily festivities and entertainment. The 10-day derby features a kids’ day, seniors’ day, ladies afternoon, onstage performers, two evening fish fries and more. Celebrating 30 years in 2017! Free admission to derby tent.


The Bayshore Race: August 27, 2017

More than 500 people of all ages run, jog and walk to raise money for the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation in this annual event. This year's race will support women's health in Grey Bruce. Half-marathon, 10-kilometre, 5-kilometre and 1-kilometre routes included.


Scenic City Film Festival - Sept. 28-30, 2017

The Scenic City Film Festival at Heartwood Concert Hall is Owen Sound’s premier cinematic event. The festival brings together feature length films with short films directed and produced by regional area filmmakers, tackling diverse topics and multiple genres including documentaries, animation, narrative, and experimental film.


Owen Sound Fall FairOwen Sound Fall Fair: Sept.7-9, 2017

Get a feel for Owen Sound’s traditional country roots at its fall fair, one of the oldest in Ontario. With activities for all ages, this well-loved family event hosts a midway, miniature horse show, 4-H regional show, truck & tractor pull, lawn mower races, demolition derby, music in the entertainment tent nightly, food, displays, quilt show, great camaraderie and so much more. Cobble BeachCobble Beach Concours d’Elegance: Sept. 16-17, 2017

Cobble Beach Resort’s Concours d’Elegance (competition of elegance) promises some of the rarest and most refined classic cars of our time, all originals in mint condition. Automobiles will be judged not on their speed but their excellence, historical accuracy, technical merit and style. View a 1911 Cadillac with wooden spokes, a 1920 Pierce Touring Arrow, plus Studebakers, Jaguars and Mazerattis from the 1950s and ‘60s, and much, much more.


Owen Sound Salmon Tour: Mid-September - Thanksgiving

Set against a backdrop of stunning fall colours, rivers and waterfalls just two hours north of Toronto, the Owen Sound Salmon Tour is a free, fun and educational adventure for all ages. You can hike the tour, including parts of the Bruce Trail, cycle the tour through Owen Sound and the surrounding countryside, or drive the route, which is car and motorcycle friendly. You can also take along a canoe or kayak to paddle the route, which follows the Sydenham River from the Owen Sound harbour on Georgian Bay through the city centre and up to spectacular Inglis Falls. Whatever your mode of travel, the self-guided fall tour brings you up close and personal with the legendary Chinook salmon, prized by fishermen and honoured by many cultures. Owen Sound is one of the few places in Ontario where you can watch the mighty Chinook spawning in their natural habitat, in streams and rushing rivers, migrating upstream to lay their eggs in the shallows before winter settles in.


SweetWater Music Festival - September 15-17, 2017

SweetWater presents both classical and contemporary chamber music and each year premieres an original composition. Musicians with national and international reputations offer master classes to promising local music students. Enjoy evening concerts on the Friday and Saturday and an afternoon concert on the Sunday. Free and paid admission events.


Pratie Oaten Festival - September 24, 2017
Grey Roots' annual Pratie Oaten festival features all things Irish -- Irish music, dance, food, crafts, and good cheer, with much of it taking place in Moreston Heritage Village at Grey Roots Museum & Archives.


Owen Sound Salmon Celebration: October 1, 2017

The Owen Sound Salmon Tour culminates in an annual celebration with tastings of fresh, Georgian Bay salmon, local beer and wine, and farm-fresh food, plus guided tours of the salmon spawning channels on the Sydenham River and hands-on activities for children. Event held at the Grey Sauble Conservation administration building near Inglis Falls. 


Festival of Northern LightsFestival of Northern Lights: Nov. 18, 2017 - Jan. 8, 2018

Enjoy the beauty of Owen Sound in the Christmas season each evening from 5-11 pm with more than 300 light displays twinkling along the banks of the Sydenham River in downtown Owen Sound and at Harrison Park.  Enjoy several weeks of events, including concerts, craft shows, a Santa Claus parade, house tours, horse-drawn carriage rides and Christmas celebrations. The festival is a National Winter Lights Champion and Festivals & Events Ontario Multiple Award Winner.


Santa Claus Parade: Nov. 18, 2017

The Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound presents the annual Santa Claus Parade, one of the longest-running in the province. The parade starts at 10 AM and winds its way along main street, with doxens of colourful floats to capture the imagination of hearts young and old.

New Year’s Eve Family Celebration - December 31
