The Owen Sound Site is one of six hospitals that amalgamated in 1998, a medical clinic and withdrawal management service. Together, they form Grey Bruce Health Services. The corporation provides inpatient and ambulatory care to residents of Owen Sound, the Bruce Peninsula, Saugeen Shores, Meaford and Markdale. It is one of the largest employers in the area. The Owen Sound Hospital acts as the Base Hospital for the region. The Grey-Bruce-Huron Paramedic Base Hospital Program provides medical direction, leadership, and advice in the provision of ambulance based pre-hospital emergency health care. In addition, the Base Hospital provides certification, training, quality assurance, continuing education and guidance to over 250 ambulance based pre-hospital emergency care providers. Grey Bruce Health Services Diagnostic Imaging is a truly “Digital Age” department employing the most up to date equipment to provide services in the following areas: Radiology (X-Ray), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Densitometry and Mammography. Medical Images are captured, stored and distributed electronically which speeds up the availability of results for the referring Physician. The department also provides Mammography services as an affiliate of the Ontario Breast Screening Program.
