Annual Report 2009

This report is issued pursuant to the requirements of Section 7(4) of the Building Code Act, as amended.  It sets out the Total Fees collected, a summary of the Indirect and Direct costs of administration and enforcement, and the statement of reserve funds for building services:

New Building By-law

With the final provisions of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing’s Building Code Statute Law Amendment Act (former Bill 124) and the 2006 Ontario Building Code now in force, on June 4, 2007, Owen Sound City Council passed By-law 2007-102, the Building By-law, to reflect changes to these documents.

County of Grey Development Charges

On September 5, 2006, the County of Grey passed By-law No. 4336-06, "A By-law to Establish Development Charges for the County of Grey."  The by-law provides for the levying of uniform development charges against all new residential development occurring throughout the County.  Non-residential development is exempt from the charges.  Development charges rates will be phased in over five years, beginning on January 1, 2007.  Lower tier municipalities will collect these charges for the County at the time a Building Permit is issued.  For more information about County Development Charges and the current rate, go to Building Permit Fees.
